The 21st Kyoto University Global environmental Forum, entitled, “Practice of international cooperation in the disaster prevention and preparedness”, was held on 14th February at International Exchange Hall I, Clock Tower Centennial Hall. Professor Kenji Okazaki (GSGES, Kyoto University) made presentation about disasters in the world and international effort for disaster reduction. Dr. Tatsuo Narafu (JICA Senior Advisor) introduced earthquake disaster and vulnerable situations in developing countries, and JICA’s activities to cope with disasters. Professor Shigenobu Tanaka (DPRI, Kyoto University) introduced floods in the world and international contribution of International Centre for Water hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM). Each professor explained and discussed how Japanese professionals are contributing to reduce disaster risks in developing countries.
