For International Students

Visa and life in Japan

After passing the GSGES Entrance Exams, contact your GSGES academic supervisor at least 3 months prior to your arrival to ask for an application to issue a Certificate of Eligibility (CoE), which will be needed to obtain a student visa. When you ask, you need to email a copy of “Notice of success in the entrance examination”.
* Not required for MEXT scholarship students.

MEXT scholarship with embassy recommendation

Please apply through the embassy in your home country.

MEXT scholarship with university recommendation

Recruitment notice for MEXT scholarship university recommendation at GSGES is annually made in around late January to each lab.
Please ask your intended academic supervisor about the application details.

ADB-JSP Program

Applicants wishing to apply for the ADB-JSP program need to take the IEMP Entrance Examinations.

Housing

Kyoto University International Houses

Applications for Kyoto University International Houses are open early January for enrollment in April and early July for enrollment in October.  After passing the GSGES Entrance Exams, please ask your academic supervisor to proceed with the applications.
