On October 8, 2019, Assistant Professor Hidenori Harada and Dr. Wutyi Naing visited the Mayor of Mandalay, Myanmar, Dr. Ye Lwin at his office for requesting their cooperation to a research project for addressing onsite sanitation and fecal sludge management challenges in Asia, titled “Transforming the Fecal Sludge Emptying Business”. The project has started from May 2019 with funding from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. From now on, a series of the field tests will be implemented in Mandalay.
