Assistant Professor Atsushi Takai wins Yamada Kazuie Award

Atsushi Takai, Assistant Professor of Environmental Infrastructure Engineering, received the Yamada Kazuie Award from the Maeda Engineering Foundation. The Yamada Kazuie Award is an award bestowed on an outstanding PhD dissertation in the fields of civil engineering and architecture in recognition of novelty, originality, and future potential. He earned his PhD in 2014 at the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies for his dissertation entitled “Geoenvironmental Reliability of Soil-Bentonite Mixture Cutoff Walls.”

He received the certificate from the Foundation Director Hajime Okamura (Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo and Kochi University of Technology) at the award ceremony held on June 5, 2015 at the World Trade Center Building in Tokyo.
